Troubleshooting
I
tried to access my website but I got an error page
instead.
One
of several things has happened:
- Your
web host's server is down. If it persists for
more than a few hours, contact your web host for
a status update.
-
Your domain registration has lapsed. You can easily
check your domain name's expiration date by going
here.
Enter your domain name and check "Domain," then
click on the "submit" button. Your expiration
date will be shown at the end of the domain registry
record. If your domain has lapsed, contact your
domain registrar immediately.
-
Your hosting account is not paid up. Contact your
web host immediately.
I
edited a page and uploaded it to the server but
my edits aren't showing up.
You've
probably uploaded your page to the wrong folder
on the server. Make sure you're in the public_html
or equivalent folder on the server, and in the same
subdirectory where it resides on your computer.
For instance, if the folder where you keep your
website files on your computer has a subfolder called
"articles", and the file you edited was
an article in that subfolder, make sure you uploaded
it to public_html/articles/ on the web server.
